Sandwiched between the specially shaped polyurethane outsole and multi-layer KevlarŪ insole is a wedge of metallic honeycomb (Attenuator), all designed to deflect and minimize the effect of anti-personnel land mines. In addition, the overboot has multi-layer KevlarŪ in upper construction.

BLAST PROTECTIVE FOOTWEAR
Wellco is the world leader in production of anti-personnel mine protective footwear. Wellco produces both mine protective boots and overboots, with either solid rubber soles, or, as in the latest development, the MINE BOGGLERS, with a combination polyurethane (Footward) and rubber (Groundward). These products are designed to reduce injury from activation of anti-personnel mines.
All of Wellco's protective boots are designed to be functional in mud, sand and rocks. Wellco's mine protective boot is comfortable enough to be worn all day in all terrains, and offers protection against anti-personnel mine detonation. They weigh equal to or less than most standard combat boots.
The protective overboot is designed to be worn over a standard combat boot or over a Wellco protective boot.
Double protection is offered by wearing the Blast Protective Boot and the Blast Protective Overboot simultaneously and is used when mapping or clearing mine fields.
